Meet Dr. Ivan Chaplik

A Love for Being a Dentist

I love my profession. By interacting with so many different and interesting people on a daily basis, I become a more patient and appreciative listener. During our conversations, each of my patients teaches me something new, so I’m constantly learning more about the world and myself.

Spending my days helping people is immensely rewarding. I’m most excited about helping my patients take care of their smiles, and teaching them how oral hygiene is an important part of their overall health. I’m passionate about using state-of-the-art technology and treatments that allow me to take a less invasive approach to procedures. This means each patient’s experience is more positive and the results are stronger.

I chose to become a dentist because it’s the perfect combination of health care, technology, and art. By combining those elements, I’m able to make positive changes in the lives of people who’ve become my friends.

Education and Continuing Education

I was a practicing dentist in Ukraine, with a degree from Lviv Medical University, before coming to the United States. Here, I earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery from New York University.

I like to stay current with the latest technologies and newest treatments so I can provide the best care to my patients. They deserve the best and that’s my goal. I attend continuing education courses throughout the year, including classes and seminars at New York University, Lutheran Medical Center, and the Henry Schein Dental Specialty Group. I also take many online classes and keep up with research findings published in dental journals.

Additionally, my memberships in the American Dental Association and the Second District Dental Society of the New York State Dental Association allow me to learn from the leaders in the field.

Away from the Office

After growing up and working as a dentist in Ukraine, I have called Brooklyn my home since 1996. Spending time with my wife Alexandra and daughter Nicole is my priority when I’m not caring for my patients. Nicole is currently in a pre-professional dance program and Alexandra and I enjoy attending her performances.

Staying healthy and active is important to me. I like working out, as well as swimming, biking, skiing, and going horseback riding. I’m also passionate about healthy nutrition.
